Digital fresh food and clean-label FMCG brand Pluckk will channel its latest ₹100 crore fundraise into research and development, artificial intelligence, and distribution expansion, as it targets EBITDA positivity within the next 12 months, Co-Founder and CEO Pratik Gupta said in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
Gupta described the capital raise as “a very important milestone,” adding that a significant portion will be directed towards strengthening product capabilities. “About 30–40% goes into R&D,” he said, noting that preservative-free products require continuous innovation to improve shelf life and scalability.
The company also plans to step up brand-building efforts and expand its footprint across tier-two markets, offline retail, and international geographies.
Pluckk, which currently operates across quick commerce platforms such as Amazon, Blinkit, Swiggy, BigBasket, Flipkart and Zepto, is now preparing for a large offline push, targeting 1,000 stores over the next year.
Gupta emphasised that investments in AI and technology will play a critical role in improving margins. “If we predict the right SKU in the right market at the right time, we save a lot on food wastage,” he said, adding that AI-led quality checks and demand forecasting could reduce costs by up to 20%.
He noted that higher volumes across channels will be key to profitability. “All the costs that we load onto current sales channels get distributed as volumes increase… which will lead us to profitability,” Gupta said.
The company is also expanding its value-added portfolio, including meal kits, juices and plant protein, while exploring new categories such as clean-label ketchup and dips.
Pluckk recently raised ₹100 crore in a Series A1 round led by Euro Gulf Investment, taking its total funding to $26 million. With operations across 50 cities and a growing product suite, the company is now positioning itself for its next phase of growth, including global expansion and a sharper focus on profitability.
