[NASHWAUK, MN] – Mesabi Metallics Company LLC (Mesabi Metallics) announced today that it has acquired an additional office location in Nashwauk, Minnesota. The strategic investment, located at 500 East Platt Avenue, the former Park State Bank branch office along US Highway 169, underscores Mesabi Metallics’ commitment to the community and its ongoing growth. The 8,352 square feet building will primarily be used for offices and meeting spaces as the company continues to expand its employee headcount while working toward the completion of its taconite mine to support a 7 million metric ton per year beneficiation plant and a 7 million metric ton per year pellet plant to produce premium Direct Reduction grade pellets in Nashwauk, which is on track to start commercial operations in the first quarter of 2026.
“Gaining more than 8,000 square feet of office space is a significant milestone for Mesabi Metallics. It is a testament of our commitment to Nashwauk and to providing family-sustaining jobs in the region,” said Joe Broking, President & CEO of Mesabi Metallics. “As we continue to energetically grow our team and work toward the completion of construction and the commencement of our commercial operations, we are excited about the potential this space offers for future growth and collaboration, both internally and with the community.”
Mesabi Metallics plans to start utilizing the building within the coming month. To date, more than $1.8 billion has been invested in Mesabi Metallics’ mine, beneficiation plant and pellet plant, with an additional $500 million allocated for its completion. Currently, an average of 400 union construction workers are on site daily, and Mesabi Metallics’ employee headcount totals 50, a number which will continue to grow.
