At the 3rd ICC Eastern India Energy Conclave held in Bhubaneswar on July 5, 2024, Kush, CEO of Essar Power, delivered a powerful address focusing on India’s vision for net zero emissions. He highlighted the government’s advancements and emphasised how these initiatives are paving the way for private players to significantly contribute to our nation’s net-zero goals.
Kush further emphasised on the revolutionary potential of coal gasification for producing ammonia, urea, and syngas calling it a game changer for the energy sector.
Additionally, he joined other industry leaders in a panel discussion on ‘Clean Base Electricity: The Role of Nuclear Energy,’ offering compelling insights into the subject.
Captivating the audience, Kush highlighted the critical role of Nuclear Energy, including large-scale Nuclear Power Plants and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), in ensuring India’s energy security. He also stressed the importance of continuous renewable energy sources like solar, wind, pump, and battery storage.
Kush called for government support through the amendment of the Atomic Energy Act to allow private participation, and the formulation of policies for fuel supply, waste recovery, and civil liability. He emphasised that with the right support, India could become the world’s largest exporter of green molecules, significantly reduce its imports of gas, oil, and chemicals, achieve energy self-sufficiency, and drive a sustainable energy future for itself and the world.
