After the successful curation and moderation of the panel on ‘Transcending Boundaries’ at the International Museum Expo 2023 inMay, Avid Learning recently was back at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, for Festival of Libraries, a two-day festival bringing the inspiring narratives and stories behind your favourite literary festivals hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. As a part of the second phase of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Libraries Division of the Ministry of Culture, Festival of Libraries isin consonance with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for development & digitisation of libraries, and for encouraging a culture of reading in India. The initiative highlighted iconic libraries from across the world to initiate a conversation on the modernization & digitization of libraries, and for action-oriented policy for the development of Model Libraries in India down to the village & community levels.
Literature is one of the most important and robust segments of the curatorial vision at Avid Learning. Our programs have supported literature in all its forms, with consistently curated programming. We regularly collaborate with literature festivals, publishing houses, authors, intellectuals, and thought leaders presenting diversely rich experiences.
As part of the Festival, SVP, Essar Group, CEO, Avid Learning, Curator, Royal Opera House, Mumbai & Member of FICCI Arts & Culture Committee, Asad Lalljee moderated  ‘From Pages to Stages: The Story of Indian Literature Festivals’, A captivating panel discussion with founders and directors of diverse literary festivals in India discussing the power of ideas and celebrating the influence of literature on the cultural landscape including Author, Curator and Founder, Peek A Book – Festival of Children’s Literature Lubaina Bandukwala, Founder Director, Khushwant Singh Literary Festival, Kasauli Niloufer Bilimoria, Managing Partner, DC Books and Founder, Kerala Literature Festival Ravi Deecee, Director, Tata Literature Live! – The Mumbai LitFest Amy Fernandes,  Co-Founder, Bangalore Literature Festival  Srikrishna Ramamoorthy, and Co-Founder, Bookaroo Children’s LitFest M Venkatesh. Each panelist holds a special place in our hearts, as we have either worked with them, partnering on some unique projects, or greatly admire their contributions to the literary world. The conversation explored the significance of literature festivals in promoting cultural participation, the digital transformation of literature, and the publishing industry. The discussion also highlighted the importance of Indian and International literature festivals in building connections between libraries, readers, authors, and books. This panel discussion brought together some of the most influential voices in the literary world, paving the way for transforming festivals and libraries into vibrant and welcoming spaces that serve as central hubs of cultural engagement as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Ms. Mugdha Sinha talks about the long-term goal to making libraries the “drawing rooms of community.”
