The 3rd edition of Maritime India Conference & Expo 2025, organised by FICCI in Mumbai, was a significant event that brought together the brightest minds from the global maritime industry. A key moment was the visit of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India, to our stall. This visit allowed us to showcase our work and discuss initiatives supporting the growth of the ports and logistics sector. It also reinforced the importance of public-private collaboration for national development.
During the conference, the Union Minister also unveiled the FICCI-CRISIL Knowledge Report on ‘Forging New Horizons: The Growth of India’s Shipbuilding and Repair Industry’, the report provides highlights of the journey of the global and Indian shipbuilding markets, the factors driving growth and how India holds the potential to become a leading hub for shipbuilding and repair.
Essar Ports was further represented at the summit by Tarkesh Tiwari, Vice President, who participated in a panel discussion on the future of maritime trade and sustainability. Tarkesh shared valuable insights on the critical role ports must play in advancing greener operations through sustainable infrastructure. He emphasised the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by adopting eco-friendly practices and how technology can enhance operational efficiency, increase capacity, and minimise environmental impact. Additionally, he highlighted Essar’s initiatives in India and the UK, focusing on automation and efficiency improvements as key drivers of the energy transition.
Tarkesh also participated in an exclusive CXO Roundtable, a high-level forum for senior leaders to explore strategic priorities and address the key challenges facing the maritime sector. His contributions further highlighted Essar Ports’ leadership position and commitment to driving positive change in the industry.
