Essar Foundation, as part of its continued commitment to community well-being and inclusive development, supported Kartavya Foundation, a non-government and non-profit organisation committed to the philosophy of care, share, and transform lives, in organising a Sports Day for children from NGOs and orphanages. The event aimed to provide children with the opportunity to experience a structured Sports Day, an experience many of them had never encountered before, while encouraging physical activity, teamwork, and confidence-building in a safe and joyful environment.

The initiative brought together 150 children, including 54 children from the Umang Foundation and 96 children from the WEF NGO, for a day filled with organised sports and recreational activities. The programme began with an opening ceremony that included a welcome address, a march past by participating children, and a torch-lighting ceremony, setting a spirited and inclusive tone for the day.
The sports activities were thoughtfully designed to suit different age groups, ranging from novelty races for younger children to lemon spoon races for the mid-age group and relay events for older participants. Beyond competition, the focus remained firmly on participation, enjoyment, and collaboration, allowing every child to engage at their own pace while experiencing the excitement of a proper sports day.
The day concluded with a closing ceremony where prizes and participation certificates were distributed, ensuring that every child felt acknowledged and encouraged.
Through its support of initiatives led by community-driven organisations such as Kartavya Foundation, Essar Foundation continues to enable programmes that create meaningful experiences, nurture confidence, and promote holistic development among children from underserved communities.
The event reflects the Foundation’s belief in sustained engagement and in creating opportunities that contribute to long-term well-being and positive social impact.
