It is extremely gratifying when consistent efforts finally bear fruit. Essar Foundation has long been working with the students of Saraswati Shishu Mandir School in Nagwa, Madhya Pradesh, along with Essar volunteers conducting weekly classes for the students. Coupled with the hard work put in by the students and the teachers of the school, these efforts have made a huge difference in their performance in this year’s 10th standard board examination.
Of the 57 students of the school who appeared in the examination, 43 passed with a first division. The overall pass percentage of the school stood at 84%, which is way higher than the 61% pass percentage of Madhya Pradesh this year. In fact, the performance of Saraswati Shishu Mandir School is one of the best in Singrauli district! It is indeed a proud moment for students, teachers, and for all of us at Essar.
To celebrate the success, Essar Foundation recently organised a felicitation-cum-career counselling event for the meritorious students. They were invited to Essar’s Mahan power plant and were felicitated by Mr MK Sharma (COO, Essar Power Mahan), Mr Rajesh Singh (Head-HR) and Dr KK Tripathi (Head-R&R) in the presence of the teaching volunteers of Essar.
The event proved to be extremely encouraging for the students. An interactive session for career guidance and counselling was organised and moderated by the Essar Technical team. During their interactions, especially with the COO, students opened up and spoke effusively about the help they received from Essar volunteers in understanding basic concepts, keeping motivation levels high and developing better problem-solving skills.
