This World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5, 2025, Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Limited, Essar Ports, and Essar Power came together in a united front to support the global theme “Ending Plastic Pollution.” Through a series of meaningful and action-oriented initiatives across locations, Essar demonstrated its deep-rooted commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
From tree plantations and clean-up drives to creative competitions and awareness campaigns, our teams showcased what it truly means to take environmental stewardship seriously.
EOGEPL nurtures nature with new nursery and plantation drive
At Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Limited (EOGEPL), the day was marked by the inauguration of a new nursery within the premises—an initiative aimed at increasing green cover and promoting biodiversity. This nursery will serve as a hub for nurturing native saplings, supporting future plantation drives in and around operational areas. As part of this year’s efforts, 50 saplings of Black Plum (Jamun) and Mahogany were planted in the MCS area. In a gesture that blended sustainability with tradition, bamboo baskets filled with mangoes—harvested from orchards planted by employees over the years—were gifted to participants, underpinning the message of embracing natural alternatives over plastic. The leadership team at EOGEPL played an active role, emphasising the long-term benefits of greening efforts and reminding employees of their individual impact on ecological restoration.
Essar Ports drives cleanliness and green initiatives
Essar Ports marked World Environment Day with a series of impactful, community-focused initiatives addressing plastic pollution and promoting environmental responsibility. A large-scale cleanliness drive helped transform the plant area and the nearby national highway into cleaner, plastic-free zones. Engaging competitions like poster making and slogan writing encouraged participation from employees, families, and stakeholders, while a plantation drive added over 100 new saplings, with plans to plant thousands. In collaboration with local authorities, a spot quiz on environmental awareness further enriched the event, which successfully inspired collective action and reinforced the importance of reducing and rethinking plastic use.
Essar Power energises campus with tree plantations and environmental engagements
At Essar Power the celebrations were equally vibrant and rooted in collective action. The campus came alive with a tree plantation drive, where employees enthusiastically contributed to building a greener environment for future generations. In the days leading up to June 5, the team engaged in various competitions such as slogan writing, poster making, and an environment-themed quiz—each activity designed to encourage creative thinking around environmental issues. The celebration culminated in a prize distribution ceremony, recognising the efforts of participants and reinforcing the idea that even the smallest actions can create lasting impact.
Together, these efforts across we paint a vivid picture of Essar’s strong commitment to environmental responsibility. While each location brought its own unique flavour to the celebration, the collective message was clear: sustainability is not a one-day event, but a daily commitment.
World Environment Day 2025 was a reminder that real change begins with action—and at Essar, we are proud to be leading that change, one initiative at a time.
