Essar Foundation understands the importance of education. It monitors the functioning of a residential school at Telkoi, Odisha, for the local tribal population. The school has 54 students from the first to fifth standards, including five kids between 1 year to 5 years of age. Students beyond the fifth standard are sent to neighbouring schools. At the Telkoi school, students are provided with nutritious meals. Staff expenses are also covered.
The tribal school demonstrated its concern for mental and physical health, while celebrating the 5th International Yoga Day at the school. Yoga is a daily activity at the school, with sessions being held every morning for all students, and teaching and non-teaching staff. For International Yoga Day this year, Ms Gouri Rani Sahu, a yoga teacher and non-teaching staff, undertook a session that was attended by 32 students and seven teaching and non-teaching staff.
