Strengthening its commitment to education-led nation building, Essar Foundation has established Mini Science Centre (MSC) Labs at Shri N.K. Ruia Tung School, Lonavala and St. Francis Orphanage to promote experiential STEM learning among students.
The initiative aims to make Science and Mathematics more engaging and accessible through hands-on learning models that simplify complex concepts, stimulate curiosity, and strengthen foundational understanding.
Across India, many students continue to face challenges in learning Science and Math due to limited practical exposure and inadequate access to quality learning resources. These challenges are particularly pronounced in underserved communities, where limited infrastructure and teaching support often impact confidence and learning outcomes.
The Mini Science Centre Labs seek to bridge this gap by creating interactive learning environments that encourage inquiry-based learning and improve students’ aptitude and interest in STEM subjects from an early age.

Developed in collaboration with STEM Learning, the initiative includes over 80 customised models covering more than 130 Science and Math concepts for students from Classes 5–10. The programme is designed to complement classroom learning through experiential education and practical application of concepts.
Conceptualised in 2011, STEM Learning works towards building foundational capabilities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at the school level, with a focus on increasing access to quality STEM education for underprivileged students.
Through initiatives such as the Mini Science Centre Labs, Essar Foundation continues to create meaningful educational opportunities and contribute towards building future-ready communities through inclusive and impactful learning interventions.
