Sep 17th, 2018
The International Coastal Clean-up day was celebrated across the globe on 15th September 2018. Over the years, Essar volunteers have been part of the coastal clean-up drives across various locations.
This year was no different for Essar Shipping employees volunteered along with the Indian Coast Guard team to clean up the beach of Shivaji Park, Girgaun Chaupathy and Juhu Beach
Around 7,000 volunteers including employees from Essar Shipping, students from colleges such as Mithibai and Bhavans, NCC cadets, NSS, Local community members joined hands in cleaning up debris and litter, making our beaches look cleaner.
Participants removed waste and non-bio degradable materials littered on the beaches, including wrappers of food articles and plastic bottles thrown by tourists. In a couple of hours, approximately 5,000 kg of garbage was collected by volunteers and handed over to BMC for disposal!
Essar Shipping spent 5 Lakhs for the common goal of cleaning up our coastal waters and taking care of our beaches. We are proud to be a part of this global movement.
