Essar Power Hazira Limited (EPHL) has always put its best foot forward when it comes to environmental initiatives. Keeping in line with its Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) philosophy, EPHL has commissioned a ECOSTP at Hazira plant. This is the first of its kind installation in Essar.
EPHL has successfully commissioned 20KLD capacity of ECOSTP for treatment of sewage generated in the plant. This kind of plant has been installed for the first time in Gujarat. Eco-Friendly technology for sewage treatment is unique “Zero Power Consumption, Zero Chemicals Consumption and Zero Maintenance”.
ECOSTP does not consume any electricity and do not have moving parts or mechanical filters for the STP process. This technology uses anaerobic bacteria as catalyst and treats sewage in four stages like, Hydrolysis, Acidogenesis, Acetogenesis and Methanogenesis. Plant Biofilter and sand filter is provided for further filtration of treated water.
Treated water has been tested with MoEF approved laboratory and all parameters were found well within limits. EPHL has been using this treated water for horticulture purpose.
The project execution for the ECOSTP was fast tracked and the plant was commissioned within four-months.
EPHL will continue their efforts towards sustainable environmental solutions and have been actively working towards minimised air pollutant emission, water conservation, natural resource conservation etc
