Essar Foundation’s Cancer Awareness Program on World Cancer Day at Mora, Hazira

Chances are that cancer if detected early can be treatable. Women may be diagnosed late because of lack of awareness and reluctance to go to doctors.

Under the Pillar of Health, Essar Foundation organises various kinds of health awareness programmes for students, majorly women, from rural schools and Essar Lok Vikas Kendras (ELVKs). Essar Foundation observed World Cancer Day by organising a cancer awareness programme for 60 women of ELVK (Mora) with the support of the Gujarat Government Health Department (Primary Sub Center, Suvali). Dr. Thakur from the District Hospital of Surat addressed the women sensitising them on the various aspects of cancer – facts, diagnosis, treatment.

Aside from sharing knowledge, this programme created a sense of community and served as a reminder to listen to your body.
