Under the ‘Pillar of Health’, Essar Foundation, Odisha with Essar Bulk Terminal Paradip and Essar Steel extended support to Odisha’s District Government Health Department for transporting the vaccine carriers from Government hospitals to the respective booths/immunisation points at Paradeep and Dabuna as well as monitored the immunisation drive. 8408 children of less than five years were administered two drops of oral anti-polio drops.
The drive was undertaken to cover 17 high risk areas including Biju Memorial Govt Hospital, Anganwadi centers, transit points (bus terminals, railway stations and other public places) in and around Paradeep’s port area and the unreached pockets of Dabuna’s Pirpokhri, Samarsua, Uchaballi, Balda, Bamebari, Esabada and Jodibada. The immunisation drive was conducted across booths followed by a house to house visit where children were administered the oral polio vaccine.
The drive was jointly monitored by Chief Medical Officer, Biju Memorial Hospital, Paradeep and Medical Officer, PHC, Kalimati, Joda.
The initiative was undertaken from March 10 to March 12, 2019.
