Women in the village-households of Paradip are entrepreneurial and have a deep desire to provide for their families. What better than livelihood skills in tailoring to kindle the flame of women entrepreneurship! Essar Foundation has set up a tailoring centre, called ‘Essar Lok Vikas Kendra’, in Nuagrah’s Gram Panchayat’s, Bijaychandrapur (Handia) village to enhance the women’s tailoring skills and help market-link the products.
The centre holds 10 sewing machines along with all related equipment. A specialised trainer has been hired to train 20 young women who have registered for the course. On completion of the course, a certificate will be provided to the women. Essar Lok Vikas Kendra was inaugurated in the presence of representatives from Essar Foundation, Essar Steel and Samiti members. About 60 members from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Teen Circle members were also present.
By helping overcome infrastructural limitations, Essar Foundation is paving the way to self-reliance through entrepreneurship for the women of the village.
