It is said that the greatest wealth is health. Essar Foundation and Essar Steel Odisha operations provided preventive and curative treatment to 616 patients. Of them, 578 received free of cost doctor’s consultation and medicines from the First Aid Medical Centre, Dabuna, while 38 others were treated at the Basantpur health dispensary. Additionally, 12 critical patients availed of an ambulance service, and 10 pregnant women were provided antenatal check-up and ultrasonography services.
Ambulance service was also provided to the government staff at Piripokhori village so that they could facilitate a VHND (Village Health & Nutrition Day) and immunisation programme for the villagers. This was of great help to the village, which is located atop a hill and has no transport connectivity. The service benefitted 19 women and 15 infants.
