Events are themed around engineering skills, innovations and diversity
Each year on Engineer’s Day, the nation pays tribute to Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a prolific civic engineer, educationist, economist, scholar of the 20th century, who made significant contributions in the field of engineering.
At Essar, we celebrated the day by hailing all our Engineers across locations, with different businesses taking up different themes. Under the #EngineersAtEssar campaign, we posted many stories through our corporate and business social media handles, which got great engagement and response.
Essarites are known for their innovative approach to problem solving, and Essar’s engineers have proved their creative skills time and again. We collated stories on innovative solutions our engineers came up with and, as a showcase, created a video on a mini-lifter that was completely made in-house. Built from scrap and electrically operated, the mini-lifter works without noise & emissions and handles spillage cargo at Essar Port’s Vizag terminal. Take a look at the video that was launched across all our platforms on Engineers day.
Essar Shipping Limited posted about #EngineersAtEssar highlighting the contributions of its women seafarers – Seema Jat, navigating officer and Tripti Kulshresta, responsible for machinery maintenance. Our women engineers are breaking the glass ceiling each day, setting an example for more women engineers to join the otherwise elusive shipping industry.
To commemorate the occasion, while continuing to work on creating innovative solutions for the clients, Essar Project’s engineering team at Surat reiterated their motto “Engineer, Execute, Excel”. At KIPIC Al Zour Refinery Project Site, Kuwait, Essar Projects conducted a competition for its employees, which involved creating models and sketches. Senior Leadership team were the jury members who judged the participants and declared the winners.
The HR team at Essar Power Hazira Limited organised an experiential learning programme for the engineers to have fun. A brain-chewing learning experience was followed up by a rapid fire round on technical questions, fun group games, case studies and a special round for the “Engineer of the day” award.
Ultra Gas & Energy Limited, a business which has clean fuels as an integral part of its architecture, shared its vision of bringing about a green fuel revolution in the country and the key role engineers will play for the same. They shared quotes from their engineers on the occasion to highlight their importance.
Essar if proud of its engineers, who have achieved considerable milestones not just for the company, but also for their relevant sectors. We shall continue investing in them and give them a platform to excel and showcase their best. Happy Engineers Day!
