The Essar Family Celebrates International Yoga Day

Yoga is the culmination of physical, mental and spiritual practices that has proven time and again to have positive benefits on a person’s health.

In the past year, the Covid-19 pandemic has aggravated the mental and physical health problems prevalent in the society. The sudden change in lifestyle for many has led to increase in stress and anxiety levels.

The use of Yoga as a tool for promoting both physical and mental well-being has never been more relevant. A growing number of people around the world are embracing Yoga to stay healthy.

In a run-up to International Day of Yoga, which is observed on 21 June each year, Essar organised webinars for the past month, where a certified instructor guided the participants through various forms of Yoga.

The theme for 2021 being “Yoga for well-being”, Essarites attended the sessions with a motto to bring positive changes to their lifestyle.

The first session delved into the practice of Face Yoga Therapy, where Ms Kanchan Binyani, a certified Face Yoga instructor accredited from the Interntional School of Holistic Medicine, UK, shared her knowledge about the importance of broadening creative expressions, refining inner emotions, and balancing mind, body and soul, and how all these help in clear expression with enhanced innovation.

The next session covered the practice of Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation technique, where the body is completely relaxed and the practitioner becomes increasingly aware of their inner self. The practice of Yoga Nidra is said to reduce insomnia, increase immunity and has a calming effect on the nervous system.

The interactive sessions helped employees learn different exercises to uplift their mood, feel energetic, and remain calm even while facing difficult situations.

Finally, to celebrate International Day of Yoga, Essarites across locations practiced the ancient art with their families at home to share their learnings.

Initiatives such as these help develop a conscious mind-set amongst Essarites, which in turn helps them lead a healthy lifestyle.
