Essar Power’s Hazira plant completes four years of commercial operations

Essar Power, today said that its Essar Power Hazira Ltd Power plant has completed four years of operations this month and had generated over 9,000 million units with an average plant load factor of more than 95%.

The power station reached full generation capacity on November 30, 2016 (within 64 days from the receipt of the Indian Boiler Regulation certification of second unit) and since then has consistently performed at contracted capacity most of the period.

Over the past four years, the availability of the plant has been over 95 percent, while the reliability was 99.20 percent.

As generation units stabilized and operated over the days, it has thus provided for a reliable and cost effective source of power to the Steel at Hazira lending a hand to the steel plant to reduce dependence on external power.

EPHL lend a hand to the steel plant to reduce dependence on external power. This plant was designed to handle the waste byproducts generated from the Steel plant such as Corex gas, Coke Oven gas, corex fines etc. Currently, it is operating with Corex gas and corex fines.

The usage of Corex gas supports the Steel Plant to avoid flaring the gas when it cannot be fully consumed in the steel plant and thereby reducing the greenhouse emissions.

The plant has set extremely high levels of standards in HSEF, Water and Energy Conservation and O&M practices.

The power plant has been certified as ISO 14001, and 45001 compliant in 2018.

It has also received numerous awards every year from reputed organizations such as Greentech, APEX, FAME, and PHD chamber in various zones such as HSEF, Water Conservation, Energy Conservation, and Human resource practices.

The plant has also recently received its first ESG compliance_new report in consultation with M/s DQS India, and Assurance certification by M/s TUV India.
