Essar Ports has been actively taking part in the Nation’s fight against #Covid19, especially by supporting COVID response in rural & semi-urban areas. Even as the pandemic levels are at an all-time low in most parts of the country, the danger of a third wave still lurks. In order to be better prepared for a possible onset, it is critical that sufficient medical oxygen is available. Realising this, Essar has been helping the Nation add more medical oxygen generating capacities. Recently, Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd Hazira donated three oxygen concentrators to Rotary Club of Surat Roundtown in Gujarat with an aim to help the community. This comes close at heels to the Oxygen Generator Plant Essar donated at Jamjodhpur CHC.
During the peak of the pandemic last year, Essar had launched the ‘Essar Cares initiative’ to actively support India’s fight against Covid19. Under the initiative, over two million meals and 1.55 lakh medical supplies were distributed across the country to those who were impacted by the lockdowns. During the second wave, when the Nation’s medical infrastructure was struggling to keep up to the increased infection levels, Essar, in collaboration with the Khambaliya Civil Hospital, had set up a 100-bed oxygen-equipped Covid Care Centre at Devbhumi Dwarka district (Gujarat). The facility played a key role in adding necessary medical infrastructure during a critical time and helped many patients recover from the virus. In the current situation, our main focus is to add generating capacities and availability for medical oxygen to face any potential threat of a third wave.
The pandemic in an unprecedented event for the world, and response requirements have been quite dynamic. It keeps changing basis the phase at which we are at fighting the virus.
