Essar launches ‘Bodhi Stree’, an initiative tailored for women at Essar

With the second wave of Covid-19 in India restricting everyone to the safety of their homes, new challenges are being faced to ensure physical fitness, mental well-being, as well as personal & professional learning & development. In such times, considering pressures of lockdown, care is needed especially for women to ensure that they continue to grow, upgrade and tap into their hidden and potentially successful selves. With that objective, Essar launched ‘Bodhi Stree’, an online platform for women Essarites that invites experts to take sessions or master-classes on various topics concerning self-development, learning, leadership and personal & professional growth.

At Essar, since last year, we have leveraged technology to launch a series of virtual initiatives like Essar Radio, LearningTV, Leadx, etc to ensure constant engagement with all associates ,and continuance of learning. Bodhi Stree is Essar’s latest addition, with its first session held on May 07, 2021, on ‘The Importance of having a positive Self-Talk’.

Hosted by Anupama Easwaran, Diversity and Inclusion Coach and Founder of in.harmony, the Self-Talk session witnessed great participation from women Essarites and their family members. Anupama, in the session, highlighted that women tend to have critical and negative self-talk, which often lowers confidence and gives way to self-doubt. To experience success in its true sense and propel growth, it is imperative to start practicing positivity and enable self-talk, which changes the atmosphere within ourselves and all around us.

Priya Chakravarty, Sr. Director – HR, Essar Capital, launched Bodhi Stree by emphasising the importance of recognising and empowering women by levelling their playing field within the organisation. “There is a need to see more women leaders on board, as female brains are naturally wired for long-term strategic vision and community building,” said Priya at the session’s opening. She also encouraged women employees to break their self-created glass ceiling and aim for a bigger and brighter tomorrow, for themselves as well as their family.

The session helped participants understand the importance of positive self-talk and create strategies to develop one. All attendees enjoyed the session and looked forward to more. We hope that the initiative, with its specific focus on growth and success of women Essarites, will benefit many in their professional pursuits.
