DDI India’s Leadership Roundtable | Insights by Ms Priya Chakravarty, Head – HR Excellence, Essar

Development Dimensions International (DDI India) hosted a leadership roundtable themed ‘Talent as They See It’ with HR and L&D leads across spheres, including corporates, namely Raymond, Johnson & Johnson Vision, MasterCard and Avery Dennison. In a frank and free-flowing discussion, Ms Priya Chakravarty, Head – HR Excellence, Essar, shared views on post pandemic workplaces, importance of technology , people centricity and technology as an integrated unit, data at the heart of talent, need for talent innovation and a “Go-To-Talent” strategy.

Throwing light on Vision Essar 2.0, Ms Priya Chakravarty spoke about Essar being on the cusp of a second phase of growth and the imperativeness of absorbing leadership talent that compliments the vision. In the background of a long-term fallout of the pandemic, she spoke about Essar’s focus on hiring bright young talent especially during these tough times so that they benefit from the exposure of some hands-on, real working life, and seek mentorship opportunities. She spoke about Essar taking cadre building seriously and going that extra mile in grooming talent by constantly redesigning talent practices, gamifying L&D workshops, providing coaching from the industry’s best mentors, as well as providing effective employee engagement channels with a special focus on mental wellbeing.

In conclusion, Ms Priya Chakravarty spoke about the WFH trend enhancing employee productivity and new leadership styles encompassing communication, ability to use intuition, and make instincts, humility, and participative decision making.
