Essar bags Spanish order for high quality X-70 API grade HRC

Essar Steel has bagged a prestigious order for export of high quality 5L X-70 API grade of HR coils. This is the highest quality of HR coil in API grade and is a preferred grade for transmission of natural gas. There are only a few manufacturers in the world that manufacture this grade that include Thyssen, Salzgitter, Posco and others. Essar Steel is the only steel manufacturer in India which has the capabilities to manufacture this grade of HR Coil.
The current export order is for 62 700 tonnes which is likely to be enhanced to 84,000. The order has been received from STS , Spain which is one of the largest API Line Pipe Makers in the world. They will be manufacturing pipes for M/s Ena Gas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gas Natural, a leading oil producing company of Spain. The order would be executed over a period of six months commencing from May, 2002.
Essar Steel has bagged this order amidst stiff competition from European, Japanese, Chinese and Japanese steel mills. Essar Steel has taken a lead in developing such high quality, value-added products for sweet and sour gas applications.
Commenting on the order, Mr. J Mehra, Managing Director, Essar Steel said, “This order only reaffirms that Essar Steel is a manufacturer of quality steel and we are happy that international buyers have complete faith in our capabilities with regard to quality as well as timely delivery”.
Essar Steel’s state-of-the-art 2.4 million tonnes per annum hot rolled coil (HRC) plant at Hazira, Gujarat, is the first and the largest of India’s new generation steel mills. The world class equipment and high automation ensure international quality products.
Essar is a versatile manufacturer with customised products, competing against top-of-the-league international steel producers like Corus, Thyssen and NKK. For instance, only a few other world-class manufacturers can make the API grade and low sulphur steel.

The products of Essar Steel have quality certification from TUV Rhineland, Lloyds Register (UK), RDSO Lucknow (railways), BIS OITC among others.
