Essar
Power has been generating 515 MW of power, out of which
215 MW is supplied to Essar Steel and balance 300 MW to
GEB. Essar Power have many firsts to their credit. They
are the first in the world to fire Naphtha as fuel for
frame-9E gas turbine and first to operate with mix fuel
i.e. gas as well as liquid fuel simultaneously. Naphtha
is the most difficult fuel to be handled in the power plant,
which has very low lubricity and high volatility . Essar
Power has gradually evolved improvements in handling of
gas as well as liquid fuel. |
The operation and maintenance
of this plant is carried out using in-house expertise .
The company source stated that they have developed various
practices to carry out repair of major critical equipments
in-house. This has also improved the availability of the
machines as well as safety of men and machinery.
The Combined
Cycle Power Plant of Essar Power is based on pollution
free green technology. Essar Power have trained young dynamic
engineers to operate this plant with totally indigenous
manpower. The average combined cycle plant availability
has been more than 95% . The company attributes the success
to Safety, Health & Environment
policies, quality of operation and maintenance, sound
HR policies and team work. |
