Essar Power Salaya Unit 1 begins operations, Unit 2 synchronized with state grid

Essar Power has commenced commercial operations of its 600MW Unit 1 power plant at Salaya, Gujarat. Unit 2 (also 600MW) has been synchronized with the state transmission grid and is expected to begin commercial operations in May 2012. The project will supply most of the power produced to GUVNL under a long-term contract.
