Location & field data

The block is located in the petroliferous Assam-Arakan high pressure fold and thrust belts and in the vicinity of the prolific oilfields of Assam. Reserves of more than 2 Tcf of natural gas is estimated.

Ownership

Essar has 16% ownership of the CR-ON-90/1 block, with Premier Oil (with 29% as Operator), OIL (20%) and IOC (35%) owning the rest, and ONGC as licensee.

Current status

• 1000 Lkm of 2D seismic reprocessed and 230 Lkm has been acquired.
• Good oil shows in the Masimpur 1 and 2 wells and in earlier BOC wells
• Exploratory well, Masimpur 3, has yielded gas shows; current drilling depth is about 4,000
