The awards are given in key infrastructure categories including highways and flyovers, railways, airports, ports, energy and power, oil and gas, telecom, and urban infrastructure.
There are also special awards in the categories of Infrastructure Leader of the Year, Infrastructure Company of the Year, Pre-Engineered Building Project of the Year, Design Project of the Year, Innovative Infrastructure Company of the Year, Emerging Infrastructure Company of the Year and Essar Steel Award for Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Infrastructure Development.
This year’s award initiative received 118 project nominations from more than 50 major companies which were evaluated by the expert jury before finalizing the winners.
The jury for this year reflected prominent names from the government, industry, and finance sector — Dr Arvind Mayaram, Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India; Dr Kirit Parikh, Chairman, Integrated Research and Action for Development and Former Member, Planning Commission; Dr M Ramachandran, Advisor (Infrastructure), Government of Uttar Pradesh; SK Goel, Chairman and Managing Director, India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited; SS Kohli, Member of Board, IDFC and Former CMD of IIFCL; and Swati Ramanathan, co-founder, Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy.
The nominated projects ranged from building large expressways, which reduce commuting times, developing rail links in the farthest and most difficult terrain in the country, creating world-class state-of-the-art airports and building mega power projects, which cater to the power needs of the energy-hungry nation.
