Mumbai, India – Essar Group has appointed Mr Arvind Chopra as Group President- Group Assurance & Cost Control (GACC).
At Essar, Mr Chopra will provide the management with independent and objective assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of operational systems and controls across group businesses and its conformance with statutory and corporate governance norms. In addition, he will also develop processes across holding and operating companies to identify and minimise operating risks and ensure statutory compliance and further assist the management in maximising operational efficiency and revenues.
Mr Chopra brings with him significant experience of over 25 years both in India and globally in the areas of Internal and External Audit, Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Compliance. Mr Chopra was a partner with reputed multinational companies and global consulting firms like PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (London) and KPMG (India). He was also the Global Corporate Director and Vice President for Internal Assurance with Arcelor Mittal in London.
Mr Chopra has served on the Boards of over several Companies both within the Arcelor Mittal Group as well as other organisations in various parts of the world.
Mr Chopra is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce with Honors from the Shriram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University.
