Essar Shipping (ESL) has won the Shipping Line of the Year (Bulk) award at
the Samudra Manthan Awards 2011. The award ceremony was part of the International Maritime
Offshore Logistics (IMOL 2011) Conference organized by Bhandarkar Shipping Events,
in Mumbai, on December 7-8, 2011.
The Samudra Manthan Awards 2011 were conferred on achievers for their excellence in performance and / or innovation in the maritime and logistics sector. The jury panel assessed the nominees in various categories according to certain principles and industry standards.
ESL has a diversified fleet of 27 vessels including very-large crude carriers, mini-bulk carriers, Supramaxes, tugs and cape-sizes, with a combined tonnage of over 1.4 million. The company provides crude oil and product transportation services to leading Indian and global oil majors and commodity traders.
Capt. Anoop Sharma, CEO-Sea Transportation Business, ESL, accepted the award from Dinesh Lal, Chairman of the Awards Jury, and Group Director-AP Moller-Maersk, India, in the presence of senior officials from government agencies and the shipping industry, who were present in full strength for the event.
