Srinagar: Aegis Limited, India’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) provider and an Essar Group company, today announced setting up two BPO centers in Jammu & Kashmir with an investment of about Rs100 crore. This makes Aegis the first BPO multinational company to set up operations in the state.
Aegis made the announcement today at a ceremony where the Chief Guest, Mr Omar Abdullah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, unveiled the foundation stone of company’s first BPO center in Srinagar. The function was attended by senior ministers, bureaucrats, corporations, local administration representatives and the national media.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shashi Ruia, Chairman, Essar Group, said, “Essar has a large national footprint, and we see J&K, with its young and dynamic leadership, playing an important role in India’s economic growth and development. Hopefully, Aegis’ initiative will encourage other large companies to invest in the state.”

Aegis plans to set up two call centers, one in Jammu and another in Kashmir, offering direct and indirect employment opportunities to 2000 people in the state, as well as economic benefits through related services like transport, training, HR, cafeteria, office supplies, and center development and maintenance.
The Aegis BPO centers will boast of state-of-the-art facilities and the latest technology, in line with other Aegis centers worldwide. The first center in Srinagar is expected to start operations in the next three months.
