Essar has a diverse business portfolio with operations spread across the length and breadth of India. A number of these operations are located in regions that are primarily rural with little or no access to modern amenities and health services. In its continuous effort to reach out to neighboring communities and improve their quality of life, Essar through the Essar Foundation regularly organizes health camps that provide free medical advice and care.
The latest such initiative is a series of eye-care camps that the Foundation organized in collaboration with the Sankar Foundation, Vizag. Chintapalli Mandal in Andhra Pradesh. To ensure that needy patients availed of the specialized medical care, the Foundation undertook a dedicated information, education and communication campaign for several weeks before the eye-camp in the surrounding rural areas.
Around 600 people have registered for the camps, of which around 150 were provided spectacles and the others were sent as referral services to Sankar Foundation Hospital Vizag for Cataract Surgery.
The camps, which began on September 7, already have around 600 people registered for the camps, of which around 150 have been provided free spectacles. Many others have been sent for referral services to Sankar Foundation Hospital (Vizag) for cataract surgery.
