Essar Steel, Hazira, has been awarded a Climate Action Certificate with an appreciation letter by the World Steel Association for its continuous effort in calculating CO2 data on a weekly basis and for its annual submission of CO2-related data. This data collection is an important step in managing emissions from the steelmaking process and will help in creating an improvement program for the future.
The World Steel Association has certified Essar Steel to use its logo in all its communication as recognition of being an industry leader that manages emissions.
The World Steel Association is an international trade body for the iron and steel industry. The association represents approximately 170 steel producers (including 17 of the world's 20 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations and steel research institutes. The purpose of the association is to promote steel and the steel industry to customers, the industry, media and the general public.
The Technical Cell Group, Blast Furnace, Corex and SMP-1 and SMP-2 teams have contributed in collecting and reporting weekly CO2 data.
