The Essar Foundation commemorated the special occasion of 'Utkal Divas' (Odisha Day) on April 1, by organizing a blood donation camp at Balidia village of Nuagarh Gram Panchayat (GP) in Paradip. Nuagarh GP nearest to the Essar Steel Paradip pellet plant.
The Essar Foundation received technical support from the District Blood Bank (DBB) of Jagatsinghpur. A five-member team of DBB was officially deputed by the Chief District Medical Officer of Jagatsinghpur. Other organizations extending their support to the initiative included the GP Office of Nuagarh, Jeevan Jyoti Welfare Association of Balidia village, and Paradeep College, which deputed four student volunteers to provide assistance. Four Essarites from Essar companies working at the site were also present to assist the CSR team.
At the close of the camp, 40 units were collected. A number of willing donors had to be turned away for various medical reasons. The DBB of Jagatsinghpur, presented a cap, a certificate of appreciation, and a blood group certificate to each donor.
