i-weekend is a concept of a Spanish organization to promote entrepreneurship. It brings together talented entrepreneurs and professionals who select three ideas from the many presented, and bring these to reality by collaboratively developing a business plan and a prototype over a weekend. The i-weekend had 60 participants. The three teams formed for the three best ideas were allotted a mentor each, who mentored them for two days. The teams then presented their business plans before 20 VCs and angel investors who funded the best idea.

The Mumbai chapter of the TEDx event will be organized in March 2011 with the theme being "Motivation for Young India". The theme is in the spirit of TED's mission of "ideas worth spreading". There will be four speakers for the event, one of whom will be from Essar.
The plans ahead are to enable mentoring sessions and panel discussions by Essar business heads at the IIT, summer training and research facilities at Essar for IITians, and talent acquisition from the IIT.
