Essar Steel (ESTL) was awarded the Platinum award by Caterpillar’s Supplier Quality Excellence Program (SQEP) on May 4, 2012. Essar Steel had previously won the Bronze award in 2008 followed by the Gold award for two consecutive years and, in 2011, it finally bagged the Platinum award – the highest award in the category.
Caterpillar’s SQEP certification recognizes ESTL’s performance as a strategic supplier of steel plates globally to Caterpillar, for achieving the highest level of excellence. Essar Steel has been supplying steel plates to Caterpillar since 2001. The award also validates ESTL’s usage of Six Sigma methodologies for continuous and sustainable improvements through the initiatives of Essar Manufacturing Excellence.
