“Coming together to make a difference…Yes, we can.”
That was the slogan of the blood donation camp organized by Essar Power Jharkhand (EPJL), on July 3, 2012, at the site of its power project in Tori, Jharkhand. The camp was held in China Colony, a temporary accommodation facility near the project site, that houses the large Chinese expatriate population working on the project.
In the days preceding the camp, an extensive campaign was carried out across the site to spread awareness and dispel myths about donating blood. Slogans, posters and banners were also created to motivate employees to join the cause.
The campaign clearly paid off; 64 employees from EPJL and
Essar Projects, stepped forward to donate blood. Many were first-time
donors and the enthusiasm was overwhelming.
A screening report, blood group report and certificate was given to each donor.
