Essar Steel Hazira won four awards at the
ISPAT Suraksha Puraskar 2012, in Group II - Integrated Steel Plants, for outstanding performance in the area of safety.
The ISPAT Suraksha Puraskar is awarded by the Joint Committee on Safety, Health and Environment in the Steel Industry (JCSSI), a body that represents steel companies and the government of India. The awards have various categories, such as 'Best safety performance' and 'Longest accident-free period'.
Te Hazira facility (Gujarat) was awarded for ‘No fatal accidents’ during 2009, 2010 and 2011, in the following zones:
- Centralised Maintenance, Utilities, Services, Rail and Road traffic
- Coal, Coke and Chemical
The awards were received by the senior executives of Essar Steel Hazira at the annual awards function of the JSCCI held at Durgapur, West Bengal, on April 7, 2012.
