At Essar, we work towards attaining 'thought leadership' in the entrepreneurship space. With this in mind, we were the title sponsors once again of the Entrepreneurship Summit (E-Summit) 2012, an annual event held by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B).
Essar has been the title sponsor for the E-Summit consecutively for three years now. The company continues to associate with platforms working on missions close to the Essar philosophy of entrepreneurship, which is engraved in its DNA.
The E-Summit, held on January 28 and 29, 2012, is a unique initiative of the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of IIT-B, which provides a forum for the business community to interact with the best student teams from colleges across the globe, presenting students an opportunity to meet entrepreneurial leaders.
The two-day event included lectures by successful entrepreneurs, venture capital pitches, mentoring sessions, insightful panel discussions, focused and simulated international workshops, start-up showcases, an interactive corporate lounge, a business mentoring hub, networking arena, an 'IdeaStorm' event and other attractions.
International speakers, including Jim Beach, co-founder of the School for Startups, and Christian de Neef, founder of Fast Track Consulting, addressed the budding entrepreneurs at the E-Summit.
This year, the theme and the focus of discussions and talks revolved around entrepreneurship, innovation and India as a growing hub for young leaders to leverage on a plethora of opportunities available to build sustainable businesses.
The E-Cell also organized Eureka!, an international business plan competition, providing a platform for potential ideas and early stage start-ups to evaluate their plan in a risk-free environment. The event, which has been recognized as Asia's largest Business Plan Competition by CNN and Thomson Reuters, attracted 3,600 entries from across the country.
