As part of its 15th anniversary and in an effort to fulfill its commitment
to CSR, PT Essar Indonesia awarded scholarships to 45 elementary students from
three elementary schools in the nearby village of Desa Mekarwangi. This was
done in collaboration with primary schools SD Mekarwangi 01, SD Mekarwangi 03
and SD Mekarwangi 04.
The scholarship distribution was attended by Deputy Regent of Bekasi Regency, Mr. Soetantio; Head of Education of Bekasi Regency, Mr. Dahroni; and Head of Mekarwangi village, Mr. H. Syamsuki, along with hundreds of students and their families.
In addition to the scholarships, PT Essar Indonesia donated more than 1,000
books to SD Mekarwangi 04 as part of Essar’s ongoing efforts to encourage
students to read books.
